Biography

Jackson Haynes is a 22 year old from Burlington Ontario who is an honour graduate of Humber's Bachelor of Music program majoring in drums. He plays a variety of genres such as R&B, Funk and Indie, but his main focus is Jazz. He has been playing the drums for 19 years, being brought up in a musical family and always being around music and drums growing up. The rising star jazz drummer located in the Toronto scene is starting to make more of a name for himself as a musician, composer, arranger and educator in the Greater Toronto Area. While gaining inspiration from Bill Stewart, Billy Drummond, Walter Smith III and Kurt Rosenwinkel amongst others, he is starting to establish his own voice as a musician in the jazz scene.

He has been recognized with numerous scholarships and awards which include the Zildjian Bursary, Wragg Family scholarship, Sabian Cymbal Award, Duke Ellington Society scholarship, GTA Drum Corps scholarship and the Sonny Milne Memorial Award. These awards represent his educational determination, playing, composing and arranging.
